On November 8, 2013, typhoon Haiyan or Yolanda (local name) shot its landfall in the Philippines. Typhoon Yolanda is one of the strongest typhoons which struck Philippines on a record. It has sustained winds of 235 kph (147 mph) with gusts of 275 kph (170 mph) when it made landfall. By those measurements, Yolanda can be compared to a strong Category 4 hurricane in the U.S, nearly in the top category, a 5.
People dead, missing. Houses, every single building is wrecked. No food, water, medicine, a good place to stay. People are starting to loot, steal. Children are sick, hungry, cold. For 5 days, all that we have to see and hear are how Yolanda has damaged us. No amount of words to exactly describe what it has done. But we are never hopeless. We will stand again and WE NEED YOU.
We are a group of small entity of radicals making any possible way we can to help our fellows. We don’t put trust in the government, its officials, mainstream media and large official entities. We have news around from people on the affected areas, that the aid doesn’t come to them, and only to the areas which can be reached by the media. News around from the local people says that they were given no aid at all, everything kept on city halls, soldiers indulging in the supplies, medias stay on the airport though roads had no obstructions and is possible to be taken to get into the different towns of Leyte (the most affected area).
Our group won’t want to go with a name. For we don’t want the people to remember us as a group who helped them, but as people like them, local people and not like this large, mainstream organizations who take advantage of the situation.
