A message from a comrade in Sweden regarding the nation-wide student demonstrations against privatizations
Yesterday, Thursday the 14th, there were nation-wide demonstrations, sit-ins and meetings in Sweden.
All under the slogan #ockuper auniversitetet which translates to #occupytheuniversity. Sweden has never had a real student movement, not
during 68 or the 70’s and not after that. Nothing that compares to the events in France, Italy or elsewhere. The Swedish left wing, also it’s more radical elements, have always contained some skepticism towards organizing as students. In later years the autonomous movement has preferred to organised as precarious workers rather than students. There have been some organisations, currents and struggles, of course.

Το έγκλημά του ήταν η δημοσιοποίηση εσωτερικών emails από την υπηρεσία πληροφοριών της Stratfor η οποία εταιρεία κατασκόπευε ακτιβιστές των ανθρωπίνων δικαιωμάτων κατ ‘εντολή μεγάλων επιχειρήσεων και της κυβέρνησης των ΗΠΑ. Last Tuesday morning, as storm clouds formed outside the federal courthouse in lower Manhattan, Jeremy Hammond pleaded guilty to one count of violating the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. His crime was publicizing internal emails from the private intelligence agency Stratfor which revealed that the company had been spying on human rights activists at the behest of major corporations and the U.S. government. For that he is facing up to 10 years in prison.

We are not expecting a beautiful Great Night that the sky will rain revolution. Instead, we activate our dynamics today and not in an undefined time of “mature and objective conditions” that detour in a metaphysical way from the subjective factor. Besides, in the current historical context, the objective conditions are over-mature, in contrast to the weak conscience of the subjective factor. A brief historic review of anarchist newspapers in Greece
A social movement that aims to communicate the course of events free from party political frameworks and regime censorship, the necessity of counter-information media is undeniable. The existence of counter-information media is self-evident for the anti-authoritarian movement. It is defined by the nature of information that resists the propagandist character of mainstream media. It is also defined by the need for expression of those whom the mass media insist to ignore, to marginalize and ultimately to isolate.This kind of necessity is not new. In Greece, the first anarchist newspapers emerged in two major urban centers, Patras and Pyrgos (Northern Peloponnisos), in the late 1800. Specifically, the anarchist association of Patras was publishing the newspaper “Epi ta Proso” (1896) and the anarchist association of Pyrgos was publishing the newspaper “Neon Fos” (1898). In this presentation, however, we will make a short description of counter-information media that emerged from 1985 onwards, when the anarchist movement in Greece sought to establish organizational structures. Σ’έναν κινηματικό χώρο που επιδιώκει την αποτύπωση των γεγονότων απαλλαγμένη από κομματικά πλαίσια και καθεστωτική λογοκρισία η αναγκαιότητα των μέσων αντιπληροφόρησης είναι αναμφισβήτητη. Η ύπαρξή τους για τον αντιεξουσιαστικό χώρο είναι αυτονόητη. Εξηγείται από την ίδια τη φύση της ενημέρωσης που αντιτίθεται στον προπαγανδιστικό χαρακτήρα των κατεστημένων μέσων πληροφόρησης. Εξηγείται επίσης από την ανάγκη ύπαρξης ενός χώρου έκφρασης εκείνων που τα ΜΜΕ επιμένουν να αγνοούν, να περιθωριοποιούν και κατ’επέκταση να απομονώνουν.
Αυτή η ανάγκη δεν είναι σύγχρονη. Στην Ελλάδα οι πρώτες αναρχικές εφημερίδες εμφανίστηκαν στα δύο μεγάλα αστικά κέντρα της Πάτρας και του Πύργου στα τέλη του 1800.
